Ever since he was a little boy, Jake loved the outdoors and outdoor life. He combined that love with his artistic background and applied them to the taxidermy field by learning taxidermy as a hobby. He took what he was able to learn by watching others and attending conventions and entered into his first competition, the Minnesota Taxidermy Guild's Convention, in the spring of 2006. He took first place with a superb Bluebill mount. With that win he decided that taxidemy was a career that he would like to pursue. He opened Wendolek Taxidermy in the fall of 2006. Since then he has continued to hone his skills by studying under several world champions and attending many conventions and classes. Today Jake is an active member in the Minnesota Taxidermist Guild and he continues to compete both nationally and internationally.
